His home had a lofty dome and was built with bricks imported on one of his ships from Bristol, England. His son, William, built a home within walking distance of his. The Turkey Island home was sold in 1814 and both William's and his son, William's, were burned by Federal troops in 1864. He was described by Colonel William Byrd as a man of high character, as well as much influence. William died April 11, 1711 in Henrico County and his tombstone, located on the plantation, was written "Col. William Randolph of Warwickshire, but late of Virginia, Gentleman. Died April 11th, 1711."
