William Ragland who freed the slaves brought to Ohio.He was known locally (in Louisa County)
as Billy Jr.He was the son of William Ragland and Agnes Lipscomb. The elder William was the son of Col. Samuel Ragland, born in New Kent Va, lived and died in Louisa, Va. in 1797. William Jr. had several sisters and one brother, John, who died at a fairly young age.Wm. Jr. inherited most of Samuel's property. Wm Jr. was born in 1780 and died in August, 1849 in Louisa. He never married but had offspring; one of which was my g-g-grandfather, William Ragland who was one of the 60+ who came to Jackson, Ohio.I have visited the site of William Jr's grave in Louisa as well as the location of his home and land in Louisa County. If you would like to know more, feel free to let me know.
