Narcissa Thomas Gillespie stated that she was born eight miles from Warrenton, Fauquier Co, VA, on Nov. 25, 1829. She also stated that she was the daughter of William McClanahan and Sarah Franklin, his second wife. William McClanahan is recognized by the DAR as a Revolutionary War Patriot, and Narcissa is recognized as a DAR Real Daughter. Her Real Daughter marker is in the ground to the side of the tombstone.
Union Cemetery, Leesburg, Loudoun County, Virginia: Plats A & B 1784-1995 by Elizabeth R. Frain, c. 1995 p. 246 states that Narcissa was born 1829 and died Dec. 2, 1916 ? Cause of death: Old age.
She signed her application as Narcissa Thomas Gillespie.

Wm. McClanahan (1762-1842) enlisted, 1781 as a private in Captain Waile's company, Col. Abraham Buford's regiment. He was placed on the pennion roll, 1832 of Faquier County, Va. He was born in Westmoreland County; died in Fauquier County.
