She married Clement Read about 1730. She was a strong woman known as "Madame Mary Read." The County Seat of Charlotte County was originally named Marysville in her honor.
Col. Clement Read and Madame Mary Read had eight children: Mary Read (Nash), Margaret Read (Carrington), Clement Read, Jr., Isaac Read, Thomas Read, Edmund Read, Anne Read (Jameson) (Elliott), and Jonathan Read.
She was buried at Bushy Forest with her husband, Col. Clement Read, whom she outlived by 23 years.
