WINSTON-SALEM, NC ~ Mr. Robert Long Hill, 89, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born one of five children, born May 4, 1926 in Stokes County, the son of the late Gilbert S. and Louise Murphy Hill.
Mr. Hill served in the US Navy during World War II and was retired from Burroughs Corporation as Field Engineer Manager. He was Secretary and Chaplain and The Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge of Winston-Salem. He loved to play golf and was an avid Carolina Tar Heel fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Aaron Hill; his second wife, Hazel B. Hill; and two brothers, Charles "Chig" Hill and Edwin Hill.
Survivors include one brother, Byron Hill; one sister, Sarah Kane and husband, Frank; two daughters, Pam Swain and husband, Stewart and Teresa Mahan and husband, James; four grandchildren, Stewart Swain, Jr., Chase Swain; Robert Mahan, and Rebecca Roberts and husband, Will.
