Charles Carter, b. in 1735 in Goochland Co., Virginia to Robert Carter. In 1756 Charles married Judith Carter (1738-1802) in Goochland. In March 1777 Charles enters the 1st Virginia Regiment of Foot and is sent to Valley Forge. He served 3 years and was discharged in Philadelphia in Feb 1780. He does not make it home. His widow, Judith Carter received a Widow's Pension upon oath of 5 of his comrades who swear he died in the service of his country. A book, "Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots, Vol. 1, p. Serial: 6924; Volume: 14 lists a Charles Carter buried on the Stillwagon Family Farm in Butler Co., PA...
