This is not a question about my usual suspects but a new family instead. Some of you know i have a new cousin--DNA matches us. In my quest to find the exact link that connects us I have been brought back full circle to Pittsylvania County and one William Adkins b about 1760; his findagrave record states the wife was Mary Hartman (b abt 1765) and they were married in 1801. That is pretty straightforward except the same record says they had several children and they were all born in the 1780s. There is another ancestry tree that is for a William Adkins born in Pittsylvania County about the same time. He is also associated with Mary Hartman, same birthdate . The record provides 3 different marriage dates for the couple, the earliest being 1782 which is still too late for her to be the mother of the older children. I am specifically interested in Owen Adkins, how was supposedly one of the sons of old William. Owen was the father of Jackson Adkns who was the father of Rufus Adkins who married Mary Matilda Blair in Rockingham County, NC. I have this couple documented from birth, marriage, childrens' birth information, etc. Mary was the daughter of John Blair, Jr, nephew of Samuel Blair, Sr, my 5th great grandfather. I don't really need to get too involved with the Adkins family if i can just find a connection to the George Edward Adkins who is in her direct line. I need to get old William's line correct so I make sure i am making the right links. As many of the families did in the early days of our country there was a lot of intermarriage among first cousins plus same generations of cousins might have been named for the same ancestor resulting in even more confusion. Any Adkins info? Thanks!
