    Notes:

If you do a google search for "Simon Ward" Illinois about the 3rd or 4th listing is for the history of Mason and Menard Counties. That book mentions that Simon Ward came to Mason County around 1828 from South Carolina, he was apparently involved with selling wood to the steamships. and that his son Henry (born 1834) was the first child born in Mason county.
Simon Ward. Married Polly Stewart in IL in 1831. Later married Mary ______. Lived in Mason Co, IL in 1850 and Izard Co. Arkansas in 1860. Had grandson Henry Powell living with him in 1860. Henry was the son of Melinda Powell, who later married Amos Ward. Amos and Melinda married in Mason Co, in 1849.
