- [S42] Obituary.
Research):THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue., Feb. 12, 1929, p. 3, col. 4 . Mrs. John J. Eanes, age 46, died Monday morning at her home at Sandy River, following a ten day illness, brought on by a complication of diseases. She had been in declining health for several years and her condition gradually grew worse, and little hope for her recovery was entertained. A short funeral service was held at the old Legwin homestead, her birthplace, Tuesday afternoon, and burial made at Sago, Franklin county. Rev. J. B. Flora, pastor of the Church of the Brethren, near Sago, conducted the services at the home and the grave. She was a woman of noble Christian character, a devoted wife and mother, loved and cherished by her large host of friends and neighbors. She was a member of the Dunkard faith. Surviving, besides her husband are four daughters, Mrs. Viola Amiss of Callands, Misses Nancy, Pearl and Ada of Sandy River, and seven sons, namely William of Martinsville, Morton, Lloyd, Fletcher, Edward, Louis and Samuel, all of Sandy River. One brother, W. Legwin, of Martinsville and one sister, Mrs. William Lawrence of Sago, also remain. [ Ref.
