    Mr. Eddie Mitchell Powell of South Boston, VA passed away at the home of his son Jeff ad Michele Powell of Alton, VA with them by his side on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born in Halifax County on May 12, 1943 and was 78 years old. He was the son of the late Eddie Hampton Powell Sr. and the late Helen Mitchell Powell. Eddie was a member of First Baptist Church and was the owner of Powell Motor Company in South Boston from which he retired in 1992. He was a member of the South Boston Lions Club and American Legion Post 8. He was an avid golfer and truly loved the game. His second passion was motorcycles. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He was a great story teller and had a great sense of humor. He had a special and unique way of touching peoples? lives that left an everlasting mark on them.

    Anna Osterhout of Midlothian, VA
    Maggie Osterhout of Midlothian, VA
    Special nephew:

    He was also preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Hampton Powell Jr.

    A private funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Garrett Bowman and Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

    The family will receive friends at the home of Betsy P. Anderson and Jean Church, 1171 Dan River Baptist Church Rd., Halifax, VA

    The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Sentara Halifax regional Hospice for their care and concerns for him. Also a special thanks to nurses Kelly, Estella, Tara, and Pam for their professionalism and the great care they provided.
