    Daughter of John S Oakes & Viola Eanes

    Perle Oakes Branch, 97, of Spencerville, Md., passed on the morning of June 4, 2010, at Montgomery General Hospital, Olney, Md. Born Sept. 9, 1912, in Danville to the late John Samuel Oakes and Viola Eanes Oakes.
    She graduated from Brosville High School and married the late Thomas Allen Branch who died in 1978. The Branches moved to the Washington, D.C. area shortly after they married in 1935.
    A long-term resident of Takoma Park, Md., and member of the Takoma Park Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Branch served as a deacon. In 2007, the Church hosted her 95th birthday party.
    Survivors include a son, Capt. John W. Branch, M.D., USN (Ret) of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Janice Branch Fox of Spencerville, Md.; sisters, Louise Hayden and Lillie Scearce, of Danville, Frances Noone of Silver Spring, Md., and Bernice Walters of Newport News; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three sisters-in-law, Janie Oakes,
    Addie Oakes and Linda Oakes.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Branch will be held June 7, 2010, at the Brosville United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
    Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel is serving the Branch family with arrangements.
