There continues to be an absence of documentation for the parentage of Paul Green. I once believed he must belong to Anthony; I now theorize that he is the son of one of Anthony's Sisters. Each of Berryman & Ann Pritchard Green's daughters married after Nathaniel's birth; Ann Pritchard Green, Berryman's daughter, married 12 Jul 1805, John Barksdale and eventually moved to DeKalb, MS. The 2nd daughter of Berryman and Ann, Lucy married Stephen Davenport in Oct 1804; 3rd Daughter, Hannah Jones Green is said to have never married, but was 'of age to have a child' in 1803 when Paul Green was born. He lived and died in Halifax Co., Virginia, among his neighbors and other members of his family. The Carters, Gravitts, Warrens, Greens, Blackwells. He is buried in his Son's Family Cemetery.

[or she is 32 and the Census has been misread] She is married to Charles Betts Woody and has a son, she has named James, who is 9 years old. All of these Woodies shown on this census are probably misnamed and are Paul Green's Children, except James who I believe is the son of Susan and Charles Woody, except she would have been 14 when she had this child. Not impossible, but not likely.

His DOB appears as 1803 and Anthony's marriage to Elizabeth W. Vaughan is 1808; One of them brought this child to the marriage or his DOB is recorded inaccurately.

8 children, 4 of which die in infancy, and he marries Sally Fanny [Sarah Frances] Green around 1887.

George T. Carter had two wives. Susie Gravitt is found on the death certificate as the mother of Joseph Alpha Carter, Sr.. Both George and Susie are listed as having been from Halifax County, Virginia. Later investigation shows the marriage record as Martha S. Green. An 1890 document shows George T. Carter AlIAS 'Gravitt' is the explanation of my grandmother's recollection. His second wife, Sallie Fanny Green is the sister of his first wife. In 1924 she inherits money from her uncle, John King Gravitt and the 3 of the 4 children of Geo. T. Carter and Sue Green are listed as heirs in this will, as well. By 1930 George T. Carter is listed as widower on the census.

Martha Susan Green is shown on the 1880 Census in the HH of her husband, George Turner Carter, and living adjacent to the HH of George's Parents, William & Betsy Turner Carter. It is the last time her name will appear on the Federal Census. By 1887 George has remarried, Sally Fannie Green, Susie's Sister. Bible Records for this family show the exact death date of Susan Carter, however, no death record can be located by the State of Virginia.
