    Notes:

In 1859, about 5 years prior to her death, Ann Emmerson,
James Andrew Jackson and Martha J. his wife, and Susan
Martin Jackson Bryant (his sister) sold 70 and 1/2 acres to
James A. Mitchell (Pittsylvania DB 58, page 320).
~ At the time of the 1850 Census with James Andrew Jackson
(James & Judith's son raised by Levi and Ann) as head of
household, with Ann Jackson a member of that household, he
reported the real estate worth $3,000.
~ Her Will, written 24 September 1859 and probated 19 Sep
1864, asked that her just debts be paid, left personal
property to her niece Sally Grant (Sarah Jackson married
William Grant 2 Jan 1848;) gave niece Susan M. Bryant half
of all real estate and personal property "monies on hand,
blue chest, bed I lie on, "gave nephew James A. Jackson,
all residue of estate both real and personal. She
appointed "my friend, Achilles H. Moorman" to be Executor
(Pittsylvania Will Book 2, page 439.)

Ann Emmerson and sister Judith married brothers Levi and
James Jackson. Ann Emmerson raised two of her sister's
children: Susan Martin Jackson and James Andrew Jackson.
She (Ann) lived with her nephew James until her death.
Judith died before 1833, (probably at the birth of James
Andrew in 1828) when James Samuel, (Judith's husband)
married Mary "Polly" Stow, d/o Joel.
    ~ Ann Emmerson's Will written 24 Sep 1859 and probated 19
Sep 1864 leaves her half inherited from her husband Levi to
Sally Grant (Judith's daughter) and Susan Bryant (Judith's
daughter) and James A. Jackson all residue of estate both
