Thanks for contacting me. Susannah Bigger is the sister to my Betsy Coleman Bigger who married Simon P. Hughes in 1803. They also have another sister and daugter of James Bigger, her name is Polly Bigger. Polly Bigger married a John Carter in April 1806 in PEC. I would love to share information with you, if you like. I have extensive information on the Hughes, Bigger family. I am also in contact with Hughes relatives that are still in PEC. We have some letters that have been with our family for over a hundred years. Below, I have included one of them for you. This particular letter comes from my 3rd great grandfathers sister in-law Mary Elizabeth Hughes. She married George Robert Hughes, brother to James B. Hughes(my 3rd great grandfather). Her letter mentions relatives with the surname Rice. I have made the connection to William Rice, but not the other two.

July 5th, 1869
Dear Brother,
As I have an opportunity this evening I will write you a few lines to let you hear from us. I will write a letter of general news. We are all well here at this time. Pattie Hughes has been confined to her bed for 12 months with inflammation of the bladder and is still very bad off. Sister Laura is entirely blind in one eye and can't see but little out of the other. Her daughter Emma has been twice married. Her first husband William Rice died at Point Lookout. Her second husband John Womack the grandson of old Wilkerson Watson. She has a son and daughter. Sister's son Augustus was killed in the army. Old Mr. Joseph Watson and his wife has died in the last six months. Also Mr. Joseph Price and Mr. Sam Thackston. Uncle Jesse Hughes is dead, also Aunt Polly Carter. Well Brother I will tell you of some of my troubles. I lost my dear son Lucius in the army. He died at Staunton River Bridge. And six months before I lost my little daughter Harriette Virginia - Oh Brother I can't express to you what trouble I have seen. I have now nine living children two married. John Robert married Henningham Hughes's daughter. My daughter Ellen married a man from Albemarle. His name is Garland. He is a very nice-industrious-poor man. She has three children. Well I will reckon you will want to know how we are getting along. Very badly I do assure you. We lost our horse two years ago and have not been able to get another and can make no crop therefore have all of our meat and bread to bye and nothing to bye with except what little shoe making Mr. Hughes can do. I have nothing to clothe my children with to send them to school. I have not been able to get anything for myself or children this spring I have not been to preaching but once since the war. Owing to not having no clothes.
Mr. Hughes is very delicate but can't do but little for us but is very sturdy and does the best he can. Jennie my baby when you was here I believe is now grown. So you see it has been a long time since we saw each other. Do you ever intend coming to see us anymore? We are very anxious to see you. If you can't come send one of your sons. I heard one of them passed through Farmville during the war and made inquiries of Cousin Frank Rice's son about us. I would have been very glad to have seen him. Well brother it is now night and my eyes are so bad that I will have to close with all of our best love to you your wife and children. Write to me as soon as you get this.
Farewell Brother
I wish ever to be remembered
Your Sister
Mary E. Hughes
