Born November 12, 1930 in Callands, Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late Charles Ward "Charlie Ward" Reynolds and Macie McNeely Reynolds and was the wife of the late Herman Lester Smith. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by four sisters, Dottie Reynolds, J'Nell Oakes, Aleen Chappel and Nannie Wade Oakes and by three brothers, Spruce Reynolds, Joe Reynolds and Dillard Reynolds. Mrs. Smith was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church and had worked for DuPont several years. She had graduated from Callands High School. Surviving is a daughter, Regina Smith McGuire of Bassett; a son and daughter-in-law, Herman Lester "H.L." Smith, Jr. and wife, Dana Smith of Fredericksburg, VA; two sisters, Claire Reynolds of Callands and Virginia Garlick of Bassett; a brother and sister-in-law, Marshall Reynolds and wife Betty Reynolds of Chatham; six grandchildren, Cory Allen Mason, Dezarea Eshel Smith, Dayton Taylor Smith, Brintt Charles Smith, Nash Dallas Smith and Danielle Leigh McGuire. Funeral services will be conducted from the Martinsville Chapel of Norris Funeral Services and Crematory, Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Norris Funeral Services, Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 6:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. and at other times will be at the home.
