  Notes	Facebook Donna Hundley Martin Donna Hundley Martin January 16, 2015 · Atlanta, GA · Today would have been my Grandma Reynolds' birthday. I have so many fond memories of her. Annie Eliza Slaydon Reynolds was one of the kindest women that I have ever known. When she was around 12 (maybe younger), her mother passed away and she quit school to stay at home to take care of the kids and the house. When her father remarried, her step-mother encouraged her to go back to school. Not sure how many more years of schooling she got. Her home was always open to us. I am sure that we probably drove her a little bit crazy because there were kids everywhere, all the time. I do not remember her ever raising her voice to any of us. Teresa probably could answer that question better since she lived with her. Grandma Reynolds had 9 children. She lost her second-born, Basil in World War II. I often think about what she and Grandpa must have felt like when they got the telegram that their oldest son was dead. To know Grandma was to love Grandma. Let's go down memory road: Sandra Reynolds Steve Bonnie Hundley Basil Hundley Andy Hundley Anita Amos Lori Irby Tonya Reynolds Myers Heather Turlington Moses Carl Turlington Jenifer Reynolds (Joey) Tony Coward Spencer Bullington Nancy Hundley Anna Rigney Deidre Reynolds Stone The Slaydon's. Grandma spelled it with a "d". Some others spell it with a "t". Uncle Kenneth for one. Cole's middle name is Slaydon and I labored over how to spell it. After talking to Mama (Sandra) and Nancy it was spelled with a "d". Now he tells me he wishes that was his first name. He loves it. Sandra Reynolds Sandra Reynolds Mother was the best person I have ever known. She always said, "If you can't say something good about someone , don't say anything at all. She followed this rule herself. I was her foot person, I took care of her feet for years and was happy to do it, she appreciated it so much. Glad to do a little something for her after all she did for me. I can remember her reading books to me when I was a little girl, guess that's where I got my love of reading. She never raised her voice to anyone, always so meek, still think of her every day. Wish I had kept all the wonderful informative letters that she wrote me while I lived in Newport News and NY. She wrote to me just about every week. Loved those letters. She told me about Teresa climbing the tree in the front yard in Feb., with only her panties on. It was sleeting out and she wouldn't come down. Mother though it was so funny. Will stop but I could write a book about our sweet grandma Annie.

  Sandra Reynolds' direct line of John Henry Reynolds through Charlie Wade Reynolds & Bernice Reynolds. Stella Frances Reynolds Nelson Star-Tribune (Chatham, VA) - Monday, January 26, 2009 DANVILLE - Stella Frances Reynolds Nelson, age 87, died at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center on Jan. 23, 2009. She had made the center her home since April 2007. Born in Callands, on June 11, 1921, she was the fourth child of nine, born to Charlie Wade Reynolds and Annie Eliza Staydon Reynolds. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, George Thomas Nelson of New York City, where she made her home until her retirement. She moved to Danville to be near her family. A few months later her brother, Kenneth, also retired and moved to Danville and Stella moved in with him until his death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Basil Reynolds, Kenneth Reynolds, A. Wilbur Reynolds, and Nelson Reynolds and two sisters, Bernice R. Turlington and Edith R. Bullington. She is survived by a foster son, Robert Nelson and wife, Cathy and their son, Neal of Mebane, N.C.; a special niece, Katherine Nelson of Chatham, and her two sons, Daniel and Joshua Coward of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Ann R. Coward and Nancy R. Hundley of Callands; special niece, Sandra Reynolds of Callands; a brother-in-law, Ralph Nelson and wife, Eileen of Gouldsboro, Pa.; sister-in-law, Frances Reynolds of Callands; nephew, Spencer Bullington of Richmond; great-nephew, Scott Reynolds of Callands; two great-nieces, Deena Reynolds of Maryland, and Lauren Beniwirtz of R.I. Numerous nieces and nephews, who loved being in the company of their Aunt Stella, also survive her. She also leaves a dear, dear friend, Dianne Beverly, who has been like a daughter to her. Stella never had children of her own but her home was always open to her nieces and nephews and several lived with her for years. Stella had a wonderful witty, loving personality, which like a magnet drew people to her. She and brother, Ken, did a lot of entertaining for their large family and had many reunions in their home. She enjoyed cooking, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and gardening before her health failed and also taking care of her cats and dogs that she adopted through the years. Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home Chapel Monday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ben Barbour officiating. Burial will be at County Line Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home an hour before the funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the charity of choice.

She would put her suitcase on the bed and I would be sitting on the bed just waiting for her to open it.
