Charles may have died in the city of Franklin, TN since his obituary was in the newspaper there. He married Sarah Elizabeth Wells/Wills on December 23, 1819 at Williamson County, TN. His parents were Ian(John)Neely and Susanna Griffin Evans. Charles is buried on his father's farm.

Note #1: A descendant has suggested I put his last name as it is on the tombstone, indicating that was the way Charles spelled it. It seems to always be spelled the way I have it, but that dosen't mean that I have it correct. I will leave it up to you how you spell it.

Note #2: Three of Charles' daughters married three Baugh brothers.

      obituary
The Review, Franklin, TN, October 11, 1853

Departed this life on the 9th of October, 1853, Charles L. Neely, in the 58th year of his age. He died at his residence in the community where he has lived an exemplary life for a number of years. Brother Neely was a native of Virginia; and emigrated in early life, with his father to Tennessee, where he has lived to raise a large family to mourn their bereavement; but they mourn not as those who have no hope. Brother Neely was a pious, upright and devoted christian. He joined the Christian church in 1845 and has ever since been a upright member in the church and an ornament to society. His aged companion and children have met with an irreparable loss; but they should take comfort from his kind edmonitions and his dying words to his family and friends, to meet him in heaven. He had suffered with that dreaded disease, the consumption, for about nine years and was confined to his room for nearly a year. In his last illness he manifested the most perfect resignation to the Divine will, and calmly and without fear breathed out his spirit into the bosom of his Redeemer. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord". O, may we all profit by his dying advice, and prepare to meet him in heaven.

O, let us then for heaven prepare, and always ready be to go.
