Notes |
- Upon the advice of Janis Knox and her collaboration with Jackie Green Black, dec,d, and coincidentally showing the records of Henrico Co., Virginia I am including John Green and his wife Elizabeth as the parents of Thomas. Henrico Records also show other Greens, including a Thomas and others, who may descend from this line. Further investigation is underway. The records of the late Jackie Black Green are said to have been located at the Halifax Library in South Boston Virginia. Several trips to this facility have proven unsuccessful to my attempts to find these records, as the Library has been closed, due to lack of personnel. -mfe

(See Document attached)
p.237 There is due Giles Carter, 800 acres for importation of these persons: Jonathan Cocks, Philip Marshall, Mary Allen, John Holms, Elianor Bushell, Kathrine Price, Cornelius Ortis, JOHN GREEN, Mary Richards, Moses Martin, William Wheeler, John Cocks, Nicho. Lund, John Burgany, Thomas Smeethes, Rachel Lockesson. 1 June 1687
[If we presume that the John Green imported by Giles Carter is this John of Henrico, for which Giles was granted land perhaps we can separate some of these John Greens and Thomas Greens. Relating their acquaintances may also give us insight as to their relationships] Note: a Woodson was also given land for importation of a John Green.

Mary Frances, did you read the explanation I put into John Green's notes? I stated that my uncle did a a DNA test for the Green project on FamilyTreeDNA and that he matched a man who is a descendat of John Green and his wife, Elizabeth. I said I know this does not mean John is Thomas' father, but since he was in the correct age group to be I had put John in that category but it may not be correct. James I. Green, Thomas and Lucy's youngest son, gave an interview to the Western Advocate newspaper in 1834, while Jame I. was in Nashville serving on the TN Constituional Convention in which he stated his father, Thomas was from New Kent co VA and that his two oldest brothers, Berryman and Thomas Green, Jr. had both served in the Revolutionary War. New Kent is a county with very few records other than the early church records.
