      THE COCKE'S OF VIRGINIA

      William Cocke, son of John Cocke married Sarah Perrin, b 1695; died 1711
      There is also on record the will of William Cox3, dated 10 Feb 1711, probated June, 1712 which mentions son Stephen, daughters Martha, Mary, Prudence, Judith, Elizabeth, and wife SARAH. In Goochland the will of Sarah Cox, dated 26, Mar 1726, probated 20 Jan 1747 She mentions Stephen, daughters Edith, Martha, Elizabeth, Mary, Prudence, and Judith. She appoints Henry Wood her executor whose handwriting is identified as the Clerk of Goochland County at that date and father of Col. Valentin Wood) who married Lucy Henry, and was the grandfather of General Joseph E. Johnston, Beverly.....(See Documents)

      Richard Perrin received a paten t on 14 Mar 1672 for 740 acres, 1 rod, 24 perches. [Va Patent Bk 6:445]. 474 acres of this wa s called "World's End" and had been granted Mathew Edlow on 2 Oct 1656. In 1691, he deeded t o Thomas Farrar andKatherine his wife (who was said Richard's daughter) 256 acres of "World' s End" "where I now live" bounded by the [James] River and William Ballow. In his will date d 16 Mar 1694/5, Richard Perrin bequeathed "my house and land commonly called "World's End" , 400 acres with 200 acres fronting river, to my dear wife Katherine for life, and at her dea th to daughter Sarah. . . ." This daughter Sarah married William Cocke 2 Dec 1695.William C ocke made his will 5 Nov 1717 and left "all my lands" to his son William.
