US Congressman. A lawyer, he was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1815. After serving to terms in the Pennsylvania State Legislature, he was elected as a Jacksonian to represent Pennsylvania?s 8th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving two terms from March 4, 1831 to March 3, 1835. He declined to run for a third term, and his seat was then filled by Congressman Edward B. Hubley. He died in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1861. His older brother was Georgia Congressman Thomas King; his nephew was Colonel John Floyd King, who served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, and later served as a Louisiana Congressman.
