John Moore was born in Brunswick Co, VA per Alan Lerwick. John Moore purchased 66 acres on Toby's Creek on May 11, 1772. 1778 - 1st Lieutenant to Capt. Charles Wall, 1796 - Died Intestate without a will. Note: After John's death a nasty Court Battle over his estate started. Note... The following papers were found in boxes at the Halifax Co. Courthouse by Lawrence Martin who was preserving these forgotten documents on microfilm. June Court 1796 Halifax Co. Frances Moore is appointed guardian in general to Burgison Moore, Tarlton Moore, Robert Moore and Maryan Moore orphans of John Moore dec'd. She giving security whereupon she together with Alexander Moore, Davis Bates and Fleming Wall. Her securities entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of Fifty Thousand Dollars conditioned according to law for that purpose. Oct 16 1796 The Commonwealth of Virginia. Summoned Armistead Moore, Richard E. Booker and his wife Elizabeth, Bird Moore, Tarlton Moore, Mary Ann Moore, and Robert Moore, heirs of John Moore dec'd into court.
