    • Jeane Barber cataloged her family with research until her death. She collaborated with many other genealogists in and around Pittsylvania County, Virginia and across the state. A lovely woman, who contributed to our knowledge of our history, she will be remembered kindly.

      Mrs. Iva Jeane Holland Barber, 84, of 3513 Sandy Creek Road, Danville, VA went to be with her Lord at the Riverside Health Care Center in Danville after a brief decline in health. She was born in Pittsylvania County, VA, a daughter of the late Charles Franklin Holland and Hattie Blanche Wells Holland. She was an office worker for Belk Leggett and later was the office manager for Schewels Furniture in Danville. She was a member of Whitmell Christian Church where she sang in the choir. She was also an avid bowler, enjoyed working puzzles and a an expert genealogist for her family. On July 7, 1948, she married, Calvin Scott Barber, who died on August 9, 2002. Survivors include two sisters Marie Holland McNeely and Elaine Holland Cranford, a brother Clarence Holland and his wife Faye Holland, a sister-in-law Pauline M Holland and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two sisters Lois Holland Allen and Elsie Holland Motley, five brothers John T Holland, Kermit Holland, Clyde Holland, Carroll Holland and Kenneth ?Doc? Holland.
      Funeral services were held at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel with Pastor Tim Oakes officiating.

      Interment followed in Danville Memorial Gardens.
