      OBITUARY
DIED, at his residence in Prince Edward County, Va., on the 15th December, 1874, JNO. WESLEY REDD, Esq., in the 81st year of his age one of the most eminently virtuous, useful and respected citizens of his county, distinguished for half a century for his piety, integrity, and usefulness in the community in which he has lived for more than "three score years and ten," and in the Methodist Episcopal Church of which for very many years he has been a distinguished and exemplary member. In all the relations of life, as citizen, neighbor, friend, master, husband, father, and more than all as a leader in the Church of which he was a bright example, he endeared himself to all who enjoyed his intercourse. Participating largely in the business of the county, he has left not an enemy behind him, and a very large circle of warmly attached friends, including children, grand children and great grand children, to mourn his irreparable loss, who will cherish his precious memory with all that affection and respect which his life was so well calculated to inspire.
He died as he lived, a bright Christian.--May those who mourn his loss strive to imitate his example.
