Amos was born in Ohio, probably Wooster, Wayne, OH to parents Archibald Thompson and Martha Fitzsimmons. In the 1850s he married Martha Jane Mosgrove.

Death-S. E of Madrid On His Farm; Leaves Three Daughters and Two Sons. He Is Said To Be The Last Surviving Homesteader On State Road Between Boone and Des Moines. No Mention As To Place of Burial
