B on 7/8/1862 in Caswell Co. at age 23; born in 1838; son of William David Neal and Sibyl Yeaman; moved to Caswell Co., NC in late 1850; brother of James William "Bill" Neal, also of Co. B; on December 12, 1859 married Lucy A. Howard (died in childbirth on August 25, 1862); muster rolls list him serving as a courier to Gen. Wade Hampton Jan. 1864; died 5/25/1864 of typhoid fever, buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond; his brother Bill raised his children after the war.
