      Lena Rigney Oakes
      DANVILLE, Va. - Lena Rigney Oakes, 84, of 2526 North Main St. died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home.
      Born July 19, 1916, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of Jesse Rigney and Minnie Allen Rigney. She was married to Alton K. Oakes, who predeceased her. She was a member of North Main Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Maurice Oakes of Orange Park, Fla.; three brothers, Percy T. Rigney of Chatham, Edward Rigney of Martinsville, and Russell Rigney of Axton; two sisters, Maggie R. Dodd and Bertha R. Meadows, both of Chatham, and two grandchildren.
      She was predeceased by one sister and three brothers, Ruby Meadows, Roy Rigney, Willard Rigney and Ernest Rigney. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harry Meadows officiating. Interment will be in Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.
