    Sarah married Lt. Colonel Alexander of Elijah McClanahan 5 May 1788, Botetourt County, Virginia. Alexander (son of Patriot Elijah 'Old Elijah' McClanahan and Ann Ewing/Owens) was born 20 Feb 1755, Augusta County, Virginia Colony; died 5 May 1824, Morgan Co., Alabama. [Group Sheet]

    Idem, dat. March 13, 1746: The name Alexander McClanahan, Col, VA, appears on a record under the following headings: "A list of officers of the Virginia Line on the Continental Establishment who have rec'd. their full pay agreeable to an Act of Assembly passed Nov. Session, 1781", which shows the sum of L 277 S. 10 was rec'd. by himself on April 23, 1783. The collection of Rev. War Records in this office is incomplete, but it is possible that additional information may be obtained from the Librarian, Virginia State Library, Richmond, VA, or from the Archivist, the National Archives, Washington, D.C., who has custody of the U. S. Pension Records covering the period of the Revolutionary War.?
