Richard Bland; b. 6 May 1710; m. Anne Poythress, daughter of Peter Poythress, 21 Mar 1729/30; 1st wife; m. Martha Macon, daughter of William Macon, 1 Jan 1759; 2nd husband, 2nd wife; m. Elizabeth Blair, daughter of Dr. Archibald Blair and Sarah Archer; 2nd husband, 3rd wife; d. 26 Oct 1776 at age 66.

US Continental Congressman. He was a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses, 1742 to 1775 and a member of the Virginia committee of correspondence in 1773. In 1774, he was elected a member of the First Continental Congress, serving until 1775. Reelected to Second First Continental Congress, he declined to serve and was a member of the Virginia Revolutionary conventions of 1775 and 1776. He was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 1776, serving until his death. US Continental Congressman Theodorick Bland was his nephew.

Richard married Anne Poythress 21 Mar 1730. Anne was born 13 Dec 1712, Prince George Co., Virginia; died 9 Apr 1758, Jordan's Journey, Jordan's Point, Virginia Colony. [Group Sheet]

He resided at 'Jordan's Point', Prince George Co., VA. He was a
member of the House of Burgesses at Virginia. He resided at
Williamsburg, VA. He and Elizabeth Randolph resided at 'Jordan's
Point', Prince George Co., VA. He left a will on 4 Feb 1719/20; proved
12 Apr 1720.

Mary Swann was born on 5 Oct 1669. She died in Sep 1700 at
'Jordan Point', Prince George Co., VA, at age 30.

Elizabeth Randolph was born in 1680. She resided at 'Jordan
Point', Prince George Co., VA. She died on 22 Jan 1719/20.

When Stafford County was created in 1664,?Patowmack Town,? later changed to Marlborough Town, was made the county seat and remained such until I748. Twenty-seven years after Stafford County was organized an Act of the Assembly for Ports and Towns was passed authorizing the creation of Marlborough Town. The Act set aside ?52 Acres whereof two Acres being for the Courthouse the other is for the Town." The tract was immediately surveyed by Theodoric Bland in August, 1691. The act was rescinded by Parliament, however, and not until 1705 was a second act passed, specifically naming the town "Marlborough," doubt­less in honor of the Duke made famous the previous year at the battle of Blenheim.

1686 at Henrico Co., VA.
Known children of Capt. Henry Isham and Katherine Banks were as
follows:
i. Henry Isham; d. 1678 at at sea; unmarried.
He resided at 'Doggams', Charles City Co., VA. He
