  1. 1.  Daniel Slaydon/Slayton was born 5 May 1731, St. Peters Parish, New Kent Co., Colonial Virginia (son of Arthur Slaydon/Slayton and Rachael Murfield); died 14 Feb 1806, Dan River Township, Camden Parish, Pittsylvania Co., Virginia .

    Notes:

    Daniel Slayden was born 5th of May 1731, Saint Peter's Parish, New Kent County, Virginia to Arthur and Rachel Murfield Slayden.He is seen as a son listed not only in his father's will, but also in a Louisa County, Virginia Deed Book A, pages 514-515, as his father grants 1 acre of land to Joseph Shelton and John Holt for five shillings on the 23rd of May 1753.The Waller family records indicate that Daniel Slayden married a Anne Waller, daughter of John and Anne Waller of Lunenburg County, Virginia.In Charlotte County Deed Book 4, page 18, shows Anne, wife of Daniel Sladen, relinquished her right of dower.Daniel Slayden and his first wife, Anne Waller Slayden children are proved in Deed Book 15 (1806-1808), pages 271-274.

    On Wednesday, 7thof May 1806, Pittsylvania County Deed Book 15 (1806-1808), pages 271-272, Milly Slayden, widow of Daniel Slayden, deceased, together with William Slayden, Daniel Slayden, John Slayden, Arthur Slayden, Jesse Mann, Archibald Walters, Robert Walters in behalf of Clement Walters, Charles Colley, and Christopher Conway, Legatees of said Daniel Slayden, Deceased in Conjunction of the one part and Beverly Barksdale of the other part.Witnesseth that the said Widow and several Legatees in consideration of one hundred and eighty-five pounds lawful money of Virginia to these in hand paid by the said Barksdale the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold by these present do and each of them bargain unto the said Beverly Barksdale a certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation two hundred and seventy-five acres more or less, being a tract of land processed by said Daniel Slayden, deceased lying in Pittsylvania County and on the waters of Lower Double Creek and bounded as followeth.Beginning at George Dodson's corner white oak, near the North Fork of the said Lower Double Creek, thence said Dodson's line to a corner pine on Abraham Walters' line, thence his line crossing said creek passing four corners to a corner pine in Joseph Slayden's line, thence his line passing a corner post on to a red oak in Jesse Mann's line, thence his line to a corner pine and the line of John Madden, deceased, thence said line to a post oak in John Dodson's line, thence his line to said creek and up said creek as it meanders to a horn bent in William Johnson's line, thence his line to a maple on a branch, thence up the right hand fork to pointers in said George Dodson's line, thence his line passing two corners to the white oak first mentioned...

    At a court held for Pittsylvania County the 21st day of July 1806, this indenture from Milly Slayden, William Slayden, Daniel Slayden, John Slayden, Arthur Slayden, Jesse Mann, Archer Walters, Robert Walters, Charles Collie, and Christopher Conway to Beverly Barksdale was presented in court and proved by the oath of one of the subscribing witnesses to be the respective acts and deed of the said Milly Slayden, William Slayden, Daniel Slayden, John Slayden, Arthur Slayden, Jesse Mann, Archer Walters, Robert Walters, Charles Collie, and Christopher Conway and at another court held for the said county the 16th day of February 1807, the same was again presented in court and further proved by the oaths of two others of the subscribing witnesses is to be the respective acts and deed of the said Milly Slayden, William Slayden, Daniel Slayden, John Slayden, Arthur Slayden, Jesse Mann, Archer Walters, Robert Walters, Charles Collie, and Christopher Conway and by the court ordered to be recorded.     On Monday, 15th of September 1806, Pittsylvania County Court Order Book 12 (1805-1807), page 263, An inventory and appraisement of the Estate of Daniel Slaydon, deceased was returned.Ordered that the same be recorded."
